Surprisingly, they are also very handy in bathrooms! Many public toilets in Taiwan do not provide toilet paper, so having your own tissues can save you from trouble. 🙆‍♀️✨

Don’t worry if you forget; some places have tissue vending machines outside the restroom, so you can buy one quickly.

When you shop in Taiwan, never throw away your receipt! Unlike in Japan, where you might say, “I don’t need it,” in Taiwan, these receipts are very special.

Taiwanese toilets have some important rules you should know.

The most important one:
👉 Do not flush used toilet paper!
Instead, throw it in the trash bin next to the toilet.
If you flush it, the toilet can get clogged 💦
(I accidentally flushed a few times when I first arrived… haha)

Some toilets have cute or funny signs reminding you not to flush, which is a very “Taiwanese” touch and can make you smile. 😊

If you need to go, here’s the recommended order for finding a toilet:
1️⃣ Department stores – the cleanest ✨
2️⃣ Convenience stores – pretty clean 👍
3️⃣ Public toilets – can be a little tricky sometimes… 😅
