Taiwan Memory ④ ~ Mid-Autumn Festival! Taiwan’s BBQ Tradition~

The Mid-Autumn Festival in Taiwan is a traditional holiday celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar. It is a day to celebrate the full moon in the middle of autumn. It is similar to Japan’s “Jūgoya,” but in Taiwan, it is known as a time when families spend important time together. And the biggest feature in Taiwan is the BBQ! On this day, it is very common for families and friends to gather and enjoy a barbecue together.

Right after we changed departments, we didn’t have many friends yet. But one of the friends we like now invited us, saying, “Let’s experience the Mid-Autumn Festival together!” We grilled delicious meat and vegetables, laughed together, and even became close with people we met for the first time through games.

More than anything, being able to join a traditional Taiwanese event and feel the warmth of Taiwanese families and people was a very special experience for us.

P.S.

This experience is in our Top 3 memories in Taiwan. We are really looking forward to the day we can BBQ together again.

Ian, thank you so much for that amazing time!!!
