2. Part-Time Work Permit

Studying abroad in Taiwan isn’t just about classes, you’ll probably want to explore the world outside campus too! And to be honest, having a part-time job comes with so many benefits:

  • You can connect with local people

  • You’ll learn real-life Chinese used in workplaces

  • You can earn a bit of extra money for daily life


Working part-time really makes your study-abroad life richer and more meaningful.

But! To work in Taiwan, you must get a Work Permit (工作證).


⚠️ Working without a permit is absolutely not allowed.

Taiwan is very strict about illegal work. Even if you have a student visa, working without a permit is a violation.

Penalties include:

  • Fine for students: NT$30,000–150,000

  • Fine for the company: NT$150,000–750,000

  • Worst case: forced departure + 3-year entry ban


So for your own safety, make sure to apply for the work permit first!


📑 Required Documents (Upload as PDF)

  • Passport (photo page)

  • Student ID

  • ARC (front & back)

  • Language-school transcript (if you have one)

  • Enrollment certificate

※ Take photos of everything and convert them into PDFs (under 5 MB).


 It’s a bit of work, but this is the only hard part. So hang in there!


💻 Step-by-Step Application Guide 

Application website:


① Create an Account

Go to: 「僑外生工讀申請」 → 「申請帳號」 → click “Agree”

Enter your information:

  • Name

  • Nationality

  • Passport number & expiry date

  • ARC number

  • School information, etc.

Check your inputs → click “Confirm” Account created!


② Log in and Start the Application

Log in with your account name and password → Go to 「案件新增及管理」 → 「新增申請案件」 → “Agree” Check the auto-filled information → click “Next”


③ Enter Your School Information

  • Day program / Night program

  • Department & major

  • Year level

  • School address

→ Click “Next”


④ Choose the Type & Duration of the Work Permit

  • Application type: Work Permit

  • Permit period: Maximum 6 months (must renew every semester!)

  • Delivery method: Electronic document recommended

  • Mobile viewing: choose Yes

→ Click “Next”

※ If you choose electronic documents, you must claim the document within 8 days after receiving the approval email.


⑤ Upload Required PDFs

  • Passport

  • Student ID

  • ARC (front & back)

  • Language transcript (optional)

  • Enrollment certificate

※ Some schools require extra documents, so ask your office just to be safe!


⑥ Select Your Payment Method

You can pay at the post office or via ATM.


If paying at the post office:

  • Payment method: 郵局繳費

  • Date: ROC/Taiwan calendar

  • Transaction office number: shown on receipt

  • Receipt number: shown on receipt

  • Amount: NT$100


If paying via ATM:

Just select ATM payment → Complete the transfer within 24 hours

→ Click “Next”


⑦ Final Check → Submit to School Review

Click 「送學校審核」


Your application is now submitted! ✨ The school will check it first, then it goes to the government. You’ll receive your work permit in about 2 weeks.
